#499 To impress, should I be the rampant tiger, or remain a sweet and a humble Christmas pudding

Monday 21st December, 2009

Dear Mariann,
Having made the acquaintance of a rather splendid lass, I want to take the next step in what has been a rather dazzling social intercourse – channelled by Facebook, of course – by inviting her back to mine for a romantic tryst.

I’m ‘shy’ on Facebook. That is to say, I am not as good as revealing myself as other fellows. I hear through the grape-vine that all her other conquests have been models and the like. And I know her friends like to gossip. To impress, should I be the rampant tiger, or remain a sweet and a humble Christmas pudding for her afters?
(From Timoshy via email. Numerous email. And a Christmas card. (all received with thanks). Please stop now).

Tim, there is no need for festive panic. Nothing can be done to stop all those pre-event nerves. Think of this as the precursor to the rather climatic event that you are proposing. In my view you might as well lay all caution to the winds and give them (her friends) something juicy to gossip about.

So let us not waste time on the what and whom has gone before. I’m sure she’ll find your taste for afters just delightful. Hold off the spotted dick and give her a good figgy pudding instead.

Will you post what you see as the one or two most significant dilemmas of the past year? For me I think it has to about privacy in terms of how SNSs use our information. But is this an etiquette issue?
