#873 vainglorious

Monday 12th July, 2010

Dear Mariann
I get up to all sorts of no good when I’m away from home. One persona is that I’m cute and carefree. My other is more fetish. Which one should dominate on Facebook?

From Wren in reply to post #271 Under the Influence

Neither. How ghastly. Watch out for a higher proportioned disinterest in what you’re doing. Nobody likes a swelled head grandstander.

As one who has had first-hand experience of the rather (predictable) offhand displays of cute n carefree vs fetish Profile displays I would advise not becoming a try-too-hard. At one moment a gaping neckline and eroticised Status Update, the next as interspersed with sensible shoes and a Ms Shy attitude will only have the effect of attracting the most boneheaded of interest. Perhaps a reexamination of your tastes as they stand in their extremes for I fear that you are not really up to either ‘persona’.  Instead, I encourage you to develop another profile – one that is completely personally satisfying, and less confusing as well.

Generally speaking though, on Facebook, you can do what you want. I’m just thinking of preserving your dignity and exhaustive state of mind/s.
